Turmeric Latte - hold the coffee!!

DSC_0264.JPG

Turmeric latte has been on coffee shop menus for a few years.

I can still remember the first one I have - slightly spicy, creamy and warming - a hug in a mug!! BUT no coffee!! Yes this is a latte with no coffee in it .

This has been my go-to drink if out and about with friends since that first drink.

But I wanted to created my own mix so that it was easy to make at home -it is perfect if I can’t sleep or just want to take a break in the middle of the afternoon.

I have been adding this drink into various clients plans over the last year or so.

Turmeric has been found to have a number of beneficial properties including relief from joint pain, reduction of inflammation, reduction of some digestive issues, anti- aging properties, reduction of PMS symptoms … the list goes on.

I always add black pepper to my mix - one for the taste but it is thought that it helps with the absorption of the compounds in the turmeric.

This recipe makes around 30 servings and will last for a few months in a Kilner jar.

2 cups of coconut milk powder

1 cup of coconut sugar

1/2 cup of ground turmeric powder

1/4 cup of ground ginger powder

1-2 teaspoons of ground black pepper

1 teaspoon of Himalayan salt

Add all the ingredients into a bowl and mix well.

Store in a Kilner jar until needed.

To make 1 cup of Turmeric latte

To a pan add a mug of your favourite milk.

In the mug add 2 heaped tablespoons of the latte mix (more if you like) and a little of your milk, mix to make a paste.

Once the milk is warm add to the mug and mix thoroughly.

Add a little honey or maple syrup if you like a sweeter taste.

I used a cup for this picture and only used 1 tablespoon of the mix :-)

Enjoy xx

Beware turmeric stains can stain .. the dry mix can be easily brushed up but if you spill the wet mix make sure you wipe it up straight away.
