Bloating at menopause isn't normal
Why bloating after menopause MUST always be checked by a doctor
WARNING … RANT ALERT
I see a lot of posts about bloating at the moment and just had to jump in .. teas that will beat the bloat, supplements to make your belly flat, foods to cut out and procedures to have BUT there is a darker side to bloating for some women that is more than the mood they’re in because they can’t fit into their favorite jeans
Bloating can be an issue at perimenopause due to 🎢 fluctuating oestrogen levels - this can have an influence on water retention, upset your toilet habits, mess with your gut bacteria and cause problems along your digestive tract meaning that you are not digesting your food properly - all leading to bloating after eating.
Throw the following into the mix:
💊 medications
🌯 certain foods
🏃 over exercise
😨 lifestyle
👵 aging
And your stomach can be feeling like there is a party going on BUT you haven't been invited.
Usually once you have transitioned through menopause your bloating should subside.
Not the case?
PROLONGED bloating and bloating AFTER the menopause should always be investigated by your doctor as it can be the indication of an underlying health condition and occasionally it can be a sign of ovarian cancer... If in doubt, always check it out!!
For a small % of women bloating can be the indication of something else AND I would always recommend having this discussion with your doctor even if you think it is menopause or food related.
Are you’re still suffering from bloating after being checked out by your doctor?
